edcamp Denver

It is 22 days away.  That is it!  Can you feel the excitement building?  Me too! The first EVER edcamp Denver is happening April 28, 2012 at Del Pueblo Elementary.  If you have never been to an edcamp, you are in for a treat.  This is not your typical conference…in fact, it is an unconference.  Best of all, it is FREE.  Yeah, I said it. Free! Here are a few details about the day (but really, you should just head on over to the website to learn all about it and register.) Edcamp Denver will begin at 8:00am with registration, breakfast refreshments, networking, and session-building with your colleagues. This is when you can sign up to lead a session, prepare for the day’s events, and meet some new friends. At 9:30, the organizers will kickoff the unconference and Edcamp Denver will get underway! Sessions will be 50 minutes in length, and there will be 10 minutes in between each session to allow participants to navigate the building, tweet, pause, write, and reflect on their learning. Lunch will be tbd. Bringing a laptop or netbook is recommended. Wireless internet will be available, and we encourage you to use it! Mark your calendars and plan on joining us.  You will be making history here! Edcamp Denver

Last week I blogged about my Bloomin’ Peacock, a new Bloom’s Taxonomy visual I made to share with teachers in a training.  Over the years, I have created a number of Bloom’s Taxonomy pictures to hang in my classroom for students to refer to.  My Bloomin’ Peacock was such a hit with you all, I thought I would start sharing the others I’ve made.   Today I revived one that I created for my classroom and added the digital version (again the digital tools displayed relate directly to the Treasures reading curriculum).  This is my Um-bloom-ra Bloom’s Taxonomy:

…and the digital version:

Here are the digital tools included in my taxonomy:

Some of you have asked what program I use to create my Bloom’s Taxonomy re-imagines, I use Apple’s Pages to create them (it is SO much more than a word processor!).  Pages makes creating easy, the only downside is that the images aren’t big enough to make into posters larger than 8.5″ x 11″.  Luckily I married a graphic artist and after the initial laughter that I used Pages instead of something like Photoshop or Illustrator, he agreed to help me make a larger poster happen.

If you are interested in my Bloom’s images on a mug, mousepad, tote bag, etc. you can find it in my store.

Brilliant! You are so clever and creative!

Brilliant!

Thanks Mike!

I love the umbrella! Actually works better for my brain than the peacock (which I loved also, just to be clear!) :)

Thanks Kelly! You continue to amaze me!

Thank-you! Just what I was after!

Brilliant, Kelly! Your Bloom’s visuals are really creative and the digital versions so helpful. Will share with teachers at my school :)

Thank you Edna, I appreciate you sharing them!

Glad I could help Melanie :)

Thanks Karen…I have more to share but will pace myself so as not to make you all crazy! I think the different visuals appeal to different students too…another reminder we are all individuals!

Hi Kelly,

I was browsing the internet for a visual representation of Blooms and I came across this website.
I am a teacher and would love to share your Bloomin’ Peacock and Umbrella designs with my fellow staff. May I have permission to share your pictures with my staff as well as print posters of your designs for all of the staff to hang in their classrooms?

Thanks.

Jadine

This blog is fantastic!

Thank you Kelli!

Jadine, you can certainly share the images with your staff. If you would like a print version, I am selling them in my online store for $.99 (all 8 are included).

You have really done a fine job with your posters. Do you have any large poster sizes available? I would gladly purchase them in poster form. If not may I enlarge them to put on my wall at school?

I do not have large poster sizes available yet but have plans to go there soon :)
