Call for posts: Feb Issue of #ProjectPLN

January’s Issue of Project PLN was all about our goals for the New Year.  February is upon us and we are still accepting posts for the February issue.  The topic: Passion (obviously!) When we think of February, we think of love. Love is the main reason we do what we do each and every day in education. We want you to share why you get up each morning and do what you do.  February is Passion month and we want to know why you are passionate about education. Feel free to contact though email projectpln10@gmail.com or Twitter @projectPLN. We would love to have your thoughts ready to share by February 8th.  This can be an article you are writing specifically for Project PLN or you can send us a related post that has already been written.

Thanks again for your continued support of Project PLN!

January Issue of Project #PLN Goals for the New Year

The January Issue of Project PLN is here!  This issue was all about your educational goals for the new year.  We appreciate everyone sharing with us and meeting some new PLN faces.  I often get the question, how do I join a PLN (Personal Learning Network)?  It could not be easier, just interact with other educators on blogs through commenting, through conversation on Twitter, through connections on a Ning, or face to face.  As soon as you do any of those things you are considered part of the PLN! I suspect that ALL of you are part of a PLN in some capacity, even if it is just talking education in the teacher’s lounge over lunch. Enjoy meeting some new educator friends in this issue of Project PLN and be inspired by their goals for education this year!

Nick and I hope that you will participate in the next Project PLN, below is the topic for February and ways to participate:

When we think of February, we think of love. Love is the main reason we do what we do each and every day in education. Educators have a passion for what to hear why you are passionate about education. Share with the world why you get up each morning and do what you do. February is Passion month and we want to know why you are passionate about education. Feel free to contact though email projectpln10@gmail.com or Twitter @projectPLN. We would love to have your thoughts ready to share by January 8th. Thanks again for your continued support of Project PLN.

January #ProjectPLN call for submissions

Project PLN is a monthly magazine that @thenerdyteacher and I put out for free.  We collect posts from educators around the world focused on a singular topic and mesh them all into one spectacular magazine.  The goal is to help us all get to know our PLN (Personal Learning Network) better and spread the great things that are happening in education.  We would love your help for the January issue.  Take a look at the topic below and how you can submit your post for the January issue.

January’s Project PLN topic:
Every new year brings a new commitment to who we are. We set goals to accomplish to make ourselves better people. In education, it is no different. We want to know what your goals are for making education better for you, your students and everyone around you. Education reform is going to continue to be a hot topic, so let’s show the world what teachers are going to do help. Feel free to contact though email projectpln10@gmail.com or Twitter @projectPLN. We would love to have your thoughts ready to share by January 8th. Thanks again for your continued support of Project PLN. We hope you enjoy the holiday season!

The post doesn’t have to be a new one, if you wrote another post on exactly this topic, feel free to submit it to us!  When you email us, please be sure to include your name as you would like it to appear, your Twitter handle (if you have one…you should!), and a URL to your blog, website, wiki, linked in profile, etc (if you have one).  Thank you for your contributions!

Friday Recap: packed full of inspiration and freebies

This is a SPECIAL Friday because for many of you, it represents the kick off to the holiday season and a little vacation time.

Here is a recap of what I’ve been up to when I haven’t been blogging at iLearn Technology:

December #ProjectPLN: Favorite webtools

It is here! The December issue of #ProjectPLN is ready to share.  In this issue we asked everyone to share their favorite web tools.  The resulting collection is great! It is always fun to see what tools others couldn’t live without and how they use them to improve learning in their classrooms.

As a side note congratulations to my partner in crime Nick Provenzano (@thenerdyteacher) who will be presenting 2 poster sessions at ISTE 11, one of them being a session about #ProjectPLN!  Congratulations Nick, very excited for you!

Don’t forget about my favorites…you can find them on my Web 2.0 Advent Calendar. (Hint, the bird is your ticket back to the home page 🙂 )

October Issue of Project PLN

It is October, which means the second issue of Project PLN!  In this issue, we asked educators to share their best practices for the start of the school year.  We got some great ideas, challenges, and suggestions from PLN members.  Take a look at the newest issue here or view the embedded version below.  I encourage you to get to know the contributing members of this month’s project PLN.  Connect with them via Twitter or through their blogs.   In the next issue we want to hear from administrators, what do you wish teachers knew about administration?  What suggestions do you have for teachers, parents, administration?  Give us an inside look at the world of the administrator.

Project PLN Call for articles

Project PLN is an idea that @thenerdyteacher cooked up and asked if I would help with.  Of course I said yes!  If you are unfamiliar with Project PLN, you can read more about it and view the first issue here.  The second issue of Project PLN is set to come out October 12.  We would love to have your participation in it.  Take a look at October’s topic:

The start of the school year can be crazy for teachers, so we would like everyone to share how they manage the start of school. These could be posts about classroom organization and management or fun lessons that get the students ready for the rest of the year. If you have a post you would like to see published in the October issue of Project PLN, you can do so in a few ways. You can tweet out your post using the hashtag #ProjectPLN, you can email it to us directly at ProjectPLN10@gmail.com or you can post a link on our Facebook page. The deadline for the October issue is Saturday October 2. For those of you who like to plan ahead, the November issue is going to focus on the Administration side of education. If you are an Administrator, we would love to feature your posts. We will have more details in October. We look forward to reading all about your best practices.

Project PLN Take 2

Yesterday was the release of Project PLN, it didn’t come without some hiccups in the form of technical difficulties.  First Openzine seemed to have crashed and then Slideshare didn’t want to make our document public. Stressful after the build up Nick and I had so carefully planned out.  It happens!  If you were affected by the difficulties yesterday, let me share the Openzine version here for you.  Hopefully it will be nothing but smooth sailing from here 🙂  We so appreciate all of your encouragement, thoughtful comments, and passing our idea on to others!  For those of you asking how you can contribute to the next Project PLN, please take a look at the Mission: Project PLN article from Nick and I.  Nick gives you a list of our upcoming topics and offers a variety of ways to submit your work.
